In this retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, the title character and a runaway princess are thrust into the sky when vines sprouting from the magic beans vault Jack's cabin into the sky. A race of giants exiled there by the power of a magic crown plots to return below and recapture the human kingdom. The King sends a rescue party of his knights and the princess's evil fiancĂ© to rescue the princess, and the evil prince uses the magical crown in an attempt to seize the power of the giants to take over the kingdom.

It was refreshing to find a non ironic, non meta straightforward telling of this story, with some elements of charm and humor. The 3D is fairly unspectacular, although there are great sequences, such as the collapse of the vine which causes catastrophic damage below. The body count, for a family film, is quite high, surpassing some of the later Harry Potter movies. It is also notable that there are virtually no females in either the giants' or human's realm. The cast is fine, and Nicholas Hoult makes a fine Jack, and brings more life and personality to the role than he did earlier this year with "Warm Bodies."

Most elements of the film work quite well and it has the potential to work alongside dark family fare like "The Never Ending Story" or "The Dark Crystal."

the last exorcism part 2-Just TERRIBLE. Unnecessary sequel, pitiful writing and poor execution.

The Last Exorcism Part II is simply put a terrible movie. I absolutely loved the first film but Part II is like the Blair Witch Project 2 of the original Blair Witch Project. Its unnecessary, it doesn't accomplish anything and it doesn't push the story forward. All this film was made for was to show you how Nell tries to recover after the events of the first film. THATS IT! The scares are few and far between the story is just downright dumb from the beginning and you never really feel for any of the characters from the get go. I wouldn't recommend seeing this film even for the fans of the first one. Besides a daring opening sequence, a few moments of suspense and interesting character moments this movie is a complete fluke. The Last Exorcism accomplished a sense of true horror and dread. You actually felt for the characters. Part II I see more of as a Dark Comedy. You can't even take this movie seriously at times. It seems the only reason this sequel was made was because the first film made 100 million at the box office. Thats it!

Saw a special screening of this yesterday and thought to myself "This is a juvenile version of the Hangover" only to realize it was from the makers of the Hangover. I particularly enjoyed this movie because there was some serious moments which I thought brought a sense of balance, but of course there was a happy ending. "21 and Over" sort of has the same qualities as "The Hangover", but differs in age and plot. Also, like "The Hangover", the cast was primarily Caucasian which to me seems unrealistic, but it's just a movie at the end of the day.

You will instantly laugh as soon as the movie starts and won't stop until the end. If you loved the hangover you should definitely see "21 and Over"

Rumored Polycarbonate iPhone To Be Released Late 2013 - Entry Level iPhone Delays iPhone 6 Release

do you remember the legacy MacBooks for entry-level consumers that sported a polycarbonate body? Earlier today Michael discussed the iPhone 5S being rumored to be released in August this year. He also mentioned the possibility of a polycarbonate body, a rumors which is coming to life of, as reporst are stating the new iPhone "Mini" will be sporting a polycarbonate body just like the oldschool MacBooks.

Word has been buzzing for some time about an "iPhone Mini", an entry-level iPhone, with a $330 price point. This would make it about the same price as the 16-gigabyte Wi-fi only iPad Mini. Rumors which have now been gearing towards a body made from polycarbonate material. This would obviously help Apple produce these iPhones at a reasonable cost.

Mac Otakara reported yesterday that not only will Apple be releasing this new entry-level iPhone soon, the company may also be temporarily postponing the release of a the iPhone 5 successor, aka the large screen iPhone 6. Meanwhile the "iPhone 5S" is expected to have two flash modules that will be located right next to the camera lens. Otakara said that the new model may resemble the design of existing iPhones thus far, right down to the home button.

I really have no idea what to expect, but from the sound of things, I would assume that Apple knows what they are doing. What are you thoughts on this possible Polycarbonate iPhone?

iPhone 5S Ships in August, Says Chinese Source

With Apple fans, industry analysts, and market watchers eagerly anticipating Apple's next move, sources out of China claim to know what the iDevice-maker will do next: release the iPhone 5S sometime in August.

The iPhone 5S may be Apple's hottest release this summer, but there's a good chance it won't be Apple's only smartphone launch. Apple, according to Chinese tech news site EMSOne, is still planning a more affordable version of the latest iPhone model, which will be produced from polycarbonate rather than glass or aluminum.

Although it remains to be seen if the "cheap model" actually manifests (following months of rumors we are all tired of), we do know that the iPhone 5S is coming. And based on a consistent stream of consistent information from industry sources, the next iPhone refresh will be a true world model.

The iPhone 5S, we are told in this latest report from China, will even work on China Mobile, which is the world’s largest carrier
